Students receive intensified instruction in basic skills through prescription learning. Students in grades three through five have the opportunity to participate in a gifted math program if they meet the eligibility criteria. Students receive additional scheduled time in the Computer Lab for acquisition of basic skills in reading, math and language arts. Romine incorporates a comprehensive literacy program that includes the five essential components of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, fluency and writing.  Students at Romine receive intense literacy instruction through instructional strategies, activities and supplemental tutoring intended to meet the goals of all students reading at proficient level by the end of the third grade.

History: Romine Elementary was established in 1963. Phil B. Baldwin Co. was the general contractor. It was established as an Interdistrict school in 1991. A major renovation was the construction of the Library Media Center in 1992. The latest large scale renovation project was completed in March 2003 with a new wing being constructed on the east side of the campus. In addition classrooms, restrooms, and other areas of the main building were completely renovated.
