Library Media Center - Circulation Policy

A detailed circulation policy has been implemented for the Forest Park Library Media Center (FP LMC).  This policy will ensure effective utilization of the books housed in the FP LMC.  The circulation for the use of books by patrons of the school library media center is as follows:

  • Students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade may take books home all year long.
  • Students in Kindergarten may borrow one book for a period of two weeks.
  • Students in Second through Fifth Grade may borrow two books for a period of two weeks.
  • Students in Pre-Kindergarten may borrow 1 book for a period of two weeks for classroom use.
  • Students are allowed 2 books checked out at a time, unless special arrangements have been made.
  • Parents may check out up to 5 books at a time with their children for a two week period.
  • Students must return books to check out additional books.
  • Teachers may check out a set of 25 books for students to use in the classroom for one month.  Special circumstances can be arranged with the LMS to provide additional materials to support classroom curriculum, not to exceed a total of 35 books for a one month period.
  • Books may be returned any time prior to the due date.
  • Books may be renewed by the individual as needed.
  • Students, parents, and teachers may, if a book is not currently available, put the book on reserve.
  • Reference books may be checked out by teachers for classroom use and by parents for overnight use.
  • Overdue books should be returned as soon as possible.
  • Any lost or damaged books must be paid for.
  • The library will abide by the Arkansas Confidentiality Law, Act 903, regarding overdue notices.
  • Overdue notices will be sent home folded and stapled periodically on excessively late due dates.
