Welcome to the Pinnacle View Middle School Counseling Corner!

My name is Kennia Anderson, and I am so excited to be working with you and your child this year! I received my undergraduate degree in Human Services with a minor in Psychology from Henderson State University. I received my master's degree in Counselor Education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. My career in the educational realm has consisted of 3 years as a middle school English teacher and 4 years as a middle school Guidance Counselor. My experiences in and outside of the classroom environment have taught me many valuable lessons.

The counselor is available to work with students, parents, and school staff to identify academic and social needs in order to enhance student success.

  • Assist with standardized testing
  • Academic monitoring
  • Consult with faculty about individual student needs on an ongoing basis
  • Middle School orientation for incoming 6th grade students
  • Arrange parent conferences upon request
  • Refer to outside agencies


Where is the counselor's office?  Mrs. Anderson is located past the main office-down the first hallway on the right. (Please check in with the front office before going to the counselor’s office).

The counselor can help a student with:

  • Friend/Social issues
  • Gaining self-awareness (strengths, weaknesses, coping strategies, feelings)
  • Organizational skills and problem-solving strategies
  • Worries or concerns that impact daily life.
  • Making good choices and reaching their full potential.


How can a student get an appointment to talk with the counselor?

  • Speak directly with the counselor
  • Request assistance from any teacher
  • Request assistance from parent/guardian

If you need to refer your child for counseling services, you may also use the Counseling Referral Form Link.


Student/Counselor Confidentiality is strictly observed with the following exceptions:

1. Threat to harm others*

2. Threat to harm self* 

3. Abuse/Neglect*

*As a mandated reporter (by state law) I must refer these situations to the proper officials and confidentiality is waived.


Grades should be checked through Edline on a regular basis. Problems with Edline may be addressed to Mrs. Karen Heatherly’s Email.


Schedule Changes:

Schedule change requests should be made within the first 10 days of the semester. Any class level changes (Regular to Pre-AP/Pre-AP to Regular) will be made at the end of the first semester.
