History: Booker Arts Magnet School, originally Booker Junior High School, was built in 1963. Booker became an Elementary school in 1982. In 1983, the Little Rock School District Board of Directors approved a plan for Booker Intermediate to become Booker Arts Magnet School.

In 1987, Booker became an elementary school for students in kindergarten through sixth grade (until 1999-2000 school year) who live in Pulaski County. Students who are currently on M-M assignments from LRSD to PCSSD interchangeably may remain until graduation and receive transportation until the end of the 2016-17 school year.  Further, NLRSD residents may continue to apply for LRSD through AR School Choice. Pulaski County Special School District does not participate in AR School Choice.

The school was named for Mr. Bob Booker, a prominent civil rights attorney. Basketball star Sidney Moncrief is an outstanding alumnus of Booker. Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former President Bill Clinton, is also a Booker Arts Magnet Alumnus.
